SUWO B Grade Concert Runners Up

adminCompetitions, Featured

On Saturday the 25th of August SUWO members were awake bright and early to head to the NSW State Band Championships in Penrith. After warming up the band took to the stage at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre to present their program to adjudicator Mark Ford:

  • “Salvation is Created” Tschesnokoff arr.Houseknecht
  • “Four Dances From West Side Story” L.Bernstein arr.Polster
  • “Armenian Dances” Alfred Reed

It was a close competition with Castle Hill RSL Youth Wind Ensemble taking out first place and SUWO tying on point total with Canberra City Band. But with a superior score for the test piece, “Four Dances From West Side Story”, SUWO took the honour of NSW Open B Grade Concert runners up.

Congratulations to all SUWO band members! The colossal effort you all committed to was evident in the quality of playing on the day. You should all feel truly proud for putting together such a challenging repertoire to such a high standard in just four weeks. Thanks must also be extended to all bands in the Open B Grade Concert division and Band Association NSW for providing such a great opportunity for SUWO to perform.
